Dr. Colin Holman, conductor of the Chicago Brass Band and the St. Louis Brass Band, led a day-long rehearsal of the Natural State Brass Band on Saturday, February 26, 2005.
"The band members were very excited about the chance to work with Colin as evidenced by the 100% attendance on that Saturday," said Rusty Morris, NSBB conductor. "Colin's knowledge of our music (both test and choice pieces) was matched only by his preparation and enthusiasm in working with us. There is no doubt that Colin's experience and expertise went a very long way in the band's good showing in St. Charles."
Dr. Holman led the Illinois Brass Band to five victories (1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, and 2001) in the Championship section of the North American Brass Band Association competition. He also conducted the Chicago Brass Band to first place in the Championship section in 2004.
The Natural State Brass Band would like to extend special thanks to Colin's wife for allowing him to conduct a rehearsal on her birthday!
